Sandel brings out some contemporary cases that uses cost – benefit analysis to attach a price on human life. But there are objections about the utilitarian logic of happiness pursuit for as many people as possible. Can we make a sum and compare values using the same unit, like the coin? Ideas form J. S. Mills whom argues that the utilitarian rule is comparable to protecting rights and that utilitarian method distinguishes between inferior and superior pleasures. Sandel tests the theory by presenting three different pleasure sources: Hamlet, Shakespeare; Reality Show Fear Factor; Simpson Family.
