Center for Institutional analysis and Development Announces the launch of the first edition of the report on International Rights Index (IPRI-International Property Rights Index) project implemented by the Alliance for the rights of ownership (PRA-Property Rights Alliance, wash. DC) in partnership with 38 institutions worldwide partner. In Romania, CADI is direct collaborator PRA in the project.
In this report, Romania won the score 3.5 drive, place 56, being outdated, for example, of Bulgaria, which with four steps above in the same top. This rating shows compliance with private property situation in Romania, based on the four areas assessed in the report, and suggests that improvements are needed in the normative protection of private property rights.
The report includes the ranking of 70 countries, whose GDP amounted to represent 95% of the world. Position in the ranking is the result of evaluating the degree of safety of private property in a certain country. In calculating IPRI, factors included were selected from three major fields: Political and legislative (LP), Physical property rights (DPF), intellectual property rights (IPRs).
The research note that, while Western Europe and North America are located in the top of the report, countries in Africa and Latin America are positioned toward the end having a weaker IPRI index. This result confirms the positive connection between property rights and prosperity. Citizens of countries located in the upper deck enjoy a per capita income of more than eight times than those of the countries situated in the lower part of the same ranking.
Through the publication of the report, the Property Rights Alliance and its partners hope to open the road to initiation of future researches that identify the pluses and minuses of the countries in the protection of the rights of intellectual and physical property. At the same time, the filmmakers report expresses hope of the possibility of using the results of this research by the RTD policies in reformulating the law. Research for the preparation of this report was led by experts in the field of private property rights, reprezintand a basic tool in measuring the degree of respect for the rights of intellectual and physical property rights at global scale.
