At one year after the sentencing to jail the young Kareem Amer for the expression of opinions critical personal blog at Egyptian State and Muslim religion 14 capital cities (Brussels, Rome, Stockholm, Washington D.c., New York City, Prague, Bucharest, Berlin, Amsterdam, London, Athens, Mexico City, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro) have organized protest actions and demonstrations of solidarity with the young Egyptian the victim of the State in the fight for the protection of the individual's right to freedom of expression.
CADI organized Friday between 12:00 and 13:00, a protest of silence in front of Egypt's Embassy in Bucharest, Dacia Boulevard 67 (see map).
Thank you supporters of the 17 Romans freedom of expression that have been with us on Friday to Protest a solidarity demonstration of silence-with Kareem Amer, an Egyptian young student learned of one year in prison for simply expressing personal opinions at the Egyptian President's address and the Muslim religion.
The message and the arguments submitted by CADI and silence protesters were structured in the form of a memorandum delivered to Egypt's Ambassador in Bucharest on Friday, the document signers and the Association solidarity for freedom of Conscience, Association and Liberalism.ro CISED.
At the Embassy, the Ambassador of Egypt in Bucharest-Fawzi Mohamed El-Said He has invited us to a discussion regarding the protest. After an hour in which Horia Jose and me we have expressed dissatisfaction and concerns relating to the case, his Excellency Kareem promised us transmitting the message of our authorities in Cairo.
We will continue fighting for his freedom and the right of any individual Kareem and freely express their own beliefs.
