The “The Failure of The Welfare State. Market Solutions to the Economic Crisis.” Conference from 2010, organized in partnership with Konrad Adenauer Foundation, has replaced into discussion the ideal of welfare during the crisis, arguing against the welfare state model’ lack of sustainability. Special guests were: Tom Palmer, vice-president for international programs at the Atlas Foundation for Economic Research, Washington D.C., Lothar Funk, professor at Applied Science University from Düseldorf, Pierre Garello, director at the Institute for Economic Studies-Europe and economic sciences professor at Aix-en-Provence University, Sever Voinescu, member of the Romanian Parliament, Theodor Stolojan, member of the European Parliament, Varujan Pambuccian, member of the Romanian Parliament, Valention Ionescu, ex- Privatisation Minister during 1997-1998 and Lucian Croitoru, counselor of the Central Bank Governor and ex-representative of Romania at IMF between 2003 and 2007. The conference is part of a wider program supported by CADI-Eleutheria and Konrad Adenauer Foundation, in which the causes of the economic crises are explained and are presented solutions for the crisis from the competitive economy perspective.
